THE STORY

CEJUDI is a lively human rights association led by young women and a variety of activists. During the 2024 electoral season in Yucatán, Mexico, they organized an Electoral Monitoring initiative to promote fair democratic practices. To connect with the community and clearly communicate the importance of their work, they aimed to develop an identity that resonates with local culture and invites everyone to understand their mission.

KEY BRIEF NOTES

“Our target audience is the people, we want to attract them to our work through a friendly language and pretty imagery. We want them to be curious, interested, informed and participative.”

THE VISUAL IDENTITY

CEJUDI’s corporate identity actively incorporates a colourful palette that defines its varied axes of action and attracts its target audiences. This monitoring, as it would function as an appendix of the association, leaned towards making use of those colours in a way that would set it apart from their other campaigns while also integrating it into the CEJUDI universe. Besides, the chosen typography resembled the style used by the association while also playfully melding cursive, serif, and san serif styles.

THE ICONOGRAPHY

Considering the Iconographic Basis, complex icons were developed that function as illustrations complementing the rest of the identity. These icons more clearly combine elements of Yucatecan Maya culture, popular symbols of the electoral process, and, through the incorporation of the evidence box and the eye, represent observation and monitoring.

THE EDITORIAL DESIGN

Casa Anomalías developed a comprehensive editorial guide with a variety of layouts that responded to the need to portray the information in an effective, easy-to-read and eye-catching way. We also aided in the design of multiple charts to display key found data and statements.

KEY CLIENT FEEDBACK

“Our priority is propelling community participation, the general public is our main target and we need them to pay attention to the data we recollect. From experience, we know the best way to do this is to display the information in the prettiest form possible. Beautiful design makes people curious.”
